Lesley Ritchie

Word got to Lesley via a friend that the club was looking for someone new to take on the position of secretary/treasurer. As she had been associated with the Girl Guide movement for 15 years and was looking for a different direction to utilise her skills, she sent along her curriculum vitae, and was duly appointed the position in November 1993.

Lesley has been there ever since; cajoling players to pay subs, picking up the battered bodies after a hard game (and equally hard night), supporting the rugby, netball, hockey and soccer players from the sidelines, and even knitting mini socks in the club colours.

She represented Poverty Bay at the inaugral National Club forum in Christchurch 2003, represents the club locally at club delegate/annual meetings, has been the keynote speaker at workshops, and JAB representative in 2007.

Her life membership was announced at the club's 50th jubilee celebration in 2007.
